Fiona has over fifteen years’ experience in the insurance market, having begun her insurance career at a specialist professional indemnity broker as a claims manager in their claims and risk management department. She was then recruited by a leading international law firm as a paralegal in their professional indemnity team and moved onto become a senior claims handler in their TPA team. She is also a qualified solicitor, initially specialising in professional indemnity and insurance disputes but has more recently worked as sole in-house counsel at an insurance broker advising on risk and compliance, as well as professional indemnity claims handling.

She has extensive experience in managing and defending claims against professionals ranging across a wide range of practices, including solicitors, accountants, architects, surveyors and engineers. She frequently advises on complex coverage disputes. She also has experience in notifications to facultative reinsurance, financial institutions, bankers’ blanket bond and crime policies, and with directors’ and officers’ notifications, both within the UK and abroad.

Her background as both an insurance lawyer and a claims handler mean that she has a proactive and commercial approach to the issues faced by Insurers and Insureds when handling professional indemnity claims. Fiona joined Caytons in 2023 from a London law firm where she was a senior claims handler.
