Caytons Law Judgment was handed down in the Commercial Court of the High Court where Caytons Law acted for a firm of insurance brokers (Sugar Hut Group & Others v AJ Insurance Service [2014] EWHC 3352 (Comm). The trial involved assessment of damages following a fire at the Sugar Hut in 2009. The club subsequently appeared in the TV show TOWIE. In assessing damages the Judge rejected the Claimants suggestion that appearing in the TV show had a negative effect on turnover. On the key disputed issue on damages of business interruption the loss was heavily reduced by the Judge from the £1.34 million sought.
