Philip is a dual qualified New York Attorney and English Solicitor with over 20 years insurance and construction industry experience. Having worked in both London and New York, Philip has extensive experience of litigation and arbitration in the UK and the US.

Philip’s practice advises on contentious and non-contentious matters primarily involving professionals or business directors and officers (particularly the construction, engineering, environmental, and legal professions) and advising on insurance and reinsurance wordings, coverage and disputes. His non-contentious practice includes advising on construction projects and contracts, environmental and corporate social responsibility issues, as well as IT/IP matters and "Smart City" initiatives.

Emma joined Caytons Law in 2012 as a senior claims administrator. Prior to joining, she spent 5 years working for a claims management company that specialised in handling professional indemnity claims, predominantly against surveyors, architects, engineers, financial advisers and insurance brokers. Emma also has experience in reporting to Insurer clients, advising them on payments and reserves.

Emma became the office manager in March 2014. Her additional duties include general admin tasks, running payroll, invoicing clients, assisting in the induction process for new employees, delegating work to staff and managing their workload and output, organising the office layout and maintaining the condition of the office.

Nicola was previously Claims Director at Pen Underwriting and led the UK Commercial team at Faraday, specialising in employers’ liability, public liability and product liability & commercial property & business interruption. Prior to that, Nicola was Head of Claims at SCOR.

Peter Campion

Peter studied at Kings College. London and has over thirty years’ experience providing legal services in arbitrations, High Court Proceedings, mediations and other ADR. This has covered the full range of professional indemnity-related matters, with particular specialism in contractor, construction-consultant, surveyor/valuer and broker claims. His construction caseload, which includes both first and third party claim resolution, has covered civil and structural, mechanical and electrical, geotechnical, transport, infrastructure, marine, oil and other energy issues. He has substantial international experience, in particular in the Middle-East, the Far-East and in Ireland, where he practised for several years. He has been involved in numerous complex and high value claims including leading the defence team for the engineer on the Wembley Stadium dispute in what was then the largest construction claim ever in the TCC. He has also advised on numerous coverage issues and has drafted several suites of policy wordings.

John Cayton

John has extensive litigation experience with particular expertise in handling professional indemnity disputes. He started his career managing claims for the London market. He therefore understands the market's requirements. He was one of the first to use mediation to resolve a dispute long before it became fashionable.

John also has considerable experience drafting professional indemnity policies. He has advised most of the London professional indemnity market on some aspect of their policy wordings. His experience in drafting policies gives him an invaluable insight when differences arise on the interpretation of a policy provision. He has used this insight to obtain successful outcomes for his clients on many occasions. John is qualified as a solicitor in England and Ireland.

John began working in the insurance market in 2005. He worked at Lloyds Brokers where he handled UK Professional Indemnity claims across all classes of business for 9 years before moving to a Lloyds Insurer for 3 and a half years where he was handling PI & GL claims again all classes of business, including Architects, Engineers, Surveyors, Estate Agents/ Property Managers, Accountants, predominantly out of Canada, Australia but with some UK, New Zealand and Italy.

John joined the claims team at Caytons Law in 2019 where he is now working on UK Professional Indemnity claims on behalf of Lloyds Insurers.

Dominic specialises in professional negligence and insurance litigation on behalf of insurers, brokers and corporate clients as well as general commercial litigation. His professional liability practice focuses on claims against a wide range of professionals with a particular focus on insurance brokers, solicitors and professionals within the construction sector including architects, contract administrators, engineers, project managers and surveyors.

Dominic has litigated claims at all levels including the TCC and has extensive experience of resolving claims within the Pre Action Protocols and in mediation, adjudication and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Ronan is an experienced litigator with extensive commercial experience in a broad range of matters including professional negligence claims against construction professionals, managing agents, medical professionals and surveyors.

Ronan started his career working as a commercial and civil law barrister in Ireland dealing with high value professional negligence claims. Ronan subsequently worked as an Attorney in the Turks and Caicos Islands (a British Overseas Territory) as a senior litigator on behalf of the Government. In that role, he acted for and advised the Government on a range of matters including personal injury litigation, judicial review, construction disputes, regulatory issues and employment law matters. Ronan returned to Dublin in 2016 after working for two years in a London law firm in the area of commercial litigation. Prior to joining Caytons Law in Dublin, Ronan spent almost three years working in a Dublin-based international law firm dealing with professional indemnity claims.

Robin has worked in the London insurance market since 1992. He started his career working for a Lloyd's broker, dealing with reinsurance and professional indemnity claims. He then decided to specialise in professional indemnity claims and moved to another Lloyd's broking house, handling the claims from one of the largest construction professional indemnity facilities in the Lloyds's market.

Having spent some time with a Lloyd's Syndicate, Robin decided to return to broking and spent over 10 years working for a Lloyd's broker dealing with professional indemnity and Directors & Officers liability claims for most professionals, including surveyors, architects, engineers, financial advisers, solicitors, accountants, hedge fund managers, insurance brokers and underwriting agents.

Robin qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1997.

Hollie began her career in the insurance market as a professional indemnity claims broker where she gained experience with the Lloyd's and company markets. She was later recruited by a leading Lloyd's syndicate where she acted as a claims assessor before working for one of the UK's largest company insurers.

Hollie has experience in dealing with claims against professionals ranging in classes of business such as solicitors, surveyors, IFAs, architects and engineers in the UK, Ireland and Australia. Hollie became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Insurance in 2011 and in doing so won 5 awards for her examination achievements and became the Institute's highest achiever under the age of 30.

Before converting to law, Warren obtained a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree from St George’s, University of London. He then completed the Graduate Diploma in Law, with distinction, and Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School, London.

Prior to joining Caytons, Warren trained in private practice specialising in general litigation and family law. He has litigated claims at all levels including the Court of Appeal and has experience of resolving claims within the pre-action protocols and in mediation.

At Caytons Law, Warren assists on professional negligence cases involving solicitors and other professionals.

Mark has extensive experience within the insurance market, covering a wide spectrum of areas but specialising in Casualty Claims. Having gained considerable experience as a claims adjuster within one of the leading Casualty company insurers in the UK, he furthered his experience working as a claims adjuster for a global TPA, adjusting claims on behalf of one of the most prominent MGA’s within the City, whom underwrite large amounts of business for SMEs.

Mark has a thorough knowledge of civil law, legislation and case law, together with a profound understanding of the litigation process, including trials, Joint Settlement Meetings and HSE prosecutions, all of which allows him to achieve the best results possible for the client.

During his career Mark has been fortunate enough to be exposed to a high level of different risks, all carrying different levels of complexity. Mark has experience with multi-national corporations, to sole traders and is able to adapt his approach to suit the needs of the client, whilst still delivering the best possible result.

Holly graduated from university, having studied Law. She began her career working for the UK's largest company insurer. There she gained experience within the corporate and speciality risk team dealing with one of the country's largest architects and engineers schemes along with other professional lines and managed outsourcing functions.

Holly progressed to claims adjusting for a leading Lloyd's Syndicate specialising in professional indemnity for solicitors and accountants. She is experienced with defending contentious claims against professionals and resolving claims and litigation by means of mediation.

Nicola joined Caytons Law in 2011 as an office assistant and has since completed the ILFM diploma. Nicola is now head of finance and has in-depth knowledge of all financial aspects of the firm, in her role as head of the finance team and reports directly to the senior and managing partner.

Nicola holds a key role within the firm. Her duties include day-to-day financial transactions and ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules, bank reconciliation for office and client bank accounts, firm expenditure, managing sales and purchase ledgers, credit control, management reporting, financial forecasting, quarterly VAT Returns and preparing reports for auditors.

John is a solicitor with over thirty five years' experience of insurance and other commercial litigation, in both private practice and in-house. John has extensive experience in professional negligence liability claims including those against construction professionals, solicitors, barristers, insurance brokers, managing agents, accountants and surveyors. He also has expertise in disputes relating to professional indemnity insurance policies and in regulatory and disciplinary matters.

John's career includes being a Practice Manager for a leading professional indemnity underwriting agency. In that role he managed claims handling and litigation under delegated authorities, drafted policy wordings and dealt with compliance issues. John qualified as a fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1990, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1999 and is a solicitor in the Republic of Ireland.

Robert has more than 20 years of experience as a solicitor with expertise in dispute resolution relating to insurance, construction, professional negligence, professional conduct, statutory liabilities, reinsurance, shipping and legal costs. He has handled many cases concerning architects', engineers' and contractors' professional and contractual liabilities, often with significant technical dimensions, in a variety of industries including energy and transport. He also has extensive experience in relation to liabilities of financial advisers and actuaries.

Robert has undertaken advocacy in final hearings in the County Court, private arbitrations and adjudications, and before disciplinary panels.

Robert is an insurance market intellectual with degrees from Cambridge and UCLA and recently obtained a post graduate degree at Kings College in strategic war studies. He insists that analysis of strategy is directly applicable to litigation which is always about the goals that can be realistically obtained with finite means.

Maurice studied at The University of Kent where he obtained a first class honours degree in Law. He subsequently achieved a Commendation on the Legal Practice Course. Prior to joining Caytons Law, Maurice was Head of Claims at a leading professional indemnity MGA. He also has experience on the claims broking side, dealing with miscellaneous professional indemnity, general liability, D&O insurance, which often had an international element. He has also obtained valuable experience in other legal and insurance related roles. These include working as a paralegal for a large national firm in the City, where he acquired experience handling professional indemnity claims against IFAs and brokers.

Sam is a qualified solicitor. Prior to joining Caytons Law Sam worked for another professional indemnity practice as a claims handler dealing with claims against professionals.

During his time at Caytons Law as a trainee Sam completed the Legal Practice Course obtaining a Distinction. Sam deals with claims against solicitors, insurance brokers and architects and other professionals engaged in the construction industry. Of particular note, Sam acted on behalf of a firm of solicitors who were being sued for negligent advice in relation to a lease along with 19 other firms of solicitors. Sam successfully assisted in the defence of a claim at court on the basis of a limitation defence which no other firm pursued. Sam also advises on appointments and collateral warranties.

Jean-Francois obtained a master degree from Nice Sophia Antipolis University, France, where he studied Business Law and Corporate Finance as a speciality. He went on to undertake a doctoral research on French and English Corporate and Insolvency Law before completing the Legal Practice Course with Commendation in the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining Caytons Law, Jean-Francois worked in London where he gained experience in general practice. He later joined a prominent International Law Firm, gaining valuable experience in Capital Markets and Debt Finance.

Since joining the Firm, Jean-Francois has provided support with claims involving professionals and assisted in advising on appointments and collateral warranties.

Cormac Scollard

Before entering the legal profession, Cormac studied civil engineering at both University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin and worked on site for a contractor in Dublin. Having spent some time in Canada, he returned to Ireland where he studied environmental law at Queen’s University Belfast and finished top of his class.

Cormac completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School, graduating with Distinction in 2016. Prior to training with Caytons, he gained experience in property and finance law working as a paralegal for a large commercial law firm in Dublin.

Richard is an experienced dispute resolution lawyer, who has specialised for most of his career on professional indemnity, coverage and construction disputes. His professional indemnity experience has spanned most non-medical professions and included defending claims against top 100 firms of solicitors and some of the biggest names in the construction professions. His caseload has ranged from small claims brought by individuals to complex multi-million-pound arbitrations involving several parties across different countries throughout the world. He has a strong track record of resolving claims with Pre-action Protocol Letters of Response alone and of defeating litigated claims with strike out/summary judgment applications. In addition to his dispute resolution practice, he has gained significant non-contentious experience, for example advising construction professionals (including world-famous landmark architects) on appointment documents and negotiating terms with international employers and co-consultants.

After reading Law at Bristol, Richard was called to the Bar and completed pupillage at a leading Commercial Chancery set in Lincoln’s Inn. Thereafter, he moved worked for several years at another highly-regarded specialist insurance law firm. He joined Caytons Law in 2017.

Jordan attained a First Class Law degree in 2011 and was awarded the Sweet and Maxwell Law Prize. Prior to joining Caytons Law in March 2012 as a paralegal, Jordan gained valuable experience working for the Citizens Advice Bureau. Jordan became a legal assistant at Caytons Law in December 2012. At Caytons Law, Jordan works on English and Irish claims in professional negligence and insurance litigation on behalf of insurers, brokers and corporate clients, Jordan assists in defending claims against a wide range of professionals. Jessica is an executive and personal assistant at Caytons Law. Her duties include; preparing all invoice documentation as well as accurate input and verification of data into the company’s accounts system. Organising and maintaining diaries and making appointments, arranging travel and accommodation, screening phone calls, enquiries and requests, and handling them when appropriate, meeting and greeting visitors at all levels of seniority, dealing with incoming email, faxes and post.

Jessica also provides support to our finance and office manager. Her duties include managing the process of supplier payment requests, invoices and expense-related documentation, daily transactions and assisting with year-end and taxation procedures.

Marli graduated from SOAS with a 2:1 in Chinese and Politics. She completed an MA in Environmental Law in 2002, followed by the GDL and LPC at the College of Law for which she received commendations.

Marli qualified as a solicitor in 2009. At Caytons Law, she advises on professional negligence claims brought against solicitors and other professions and also deals with policy coverage issues.

Janet Williams

Janet specialises in professional negligence and insurance litigation. She has acted on behalf of a wide range of professionals, including those involved in the construction industry (architects, engineers, surveyors) and the financial services sector, and solicitors. She has also been involved in coverage and D&O disputes.

She has extensive experience of litigation in the English courts, as well as international arbitration. She aims to resolve claims effectively, whether through court proceedings, Pre-Action Protocols or Alternative Dispute Resolution, such as mediation. Janet has been involved in a number of high profile cases.

Prior to joining Caytons Law, she worked for a number of years with a leading specialist professional indemnity practice.
